What Does A Sex Coach Do?

Sex coaching is about helping you navigate intimacy with more confidence, clarity, and connection. If something feels off in your sex life—whether it’s a lack of excitement, communication struggles, or uncertainty about what you really want—coaching gives you a space to explore it without judgment.

I’m here to help you figure out what’s getting in the way of your pleasure and connection, whether it’s a confidence issue, a relationship dynamic, or just a lack of information that no one ever taught you. Coaching isn’t about fixing you—because you’re not broken. It’s about giving you the tools to build a fulfilling, satisfying sex life on your terms.

Here’s what we might focus on in our sessions:

  • Figuring out what you truly want—your desires, boundaries, and needs.
  • Bridging the gap between what you *wish* you could say about sex and actually saying it.
  • Understanding and navigating differences in sexual desire in your relationship.
  • Bringing back physical and emotional intimacy—even when life is busy.
  • Getting comfortable with talking about sex with your kids (without awkwardness).

My goal isn’t to tell you what you should want—it’s to help you get clear on what *you* want and make that a reality. Coaching gives you the space, tools, and support to create the sex life and relationships that feel right for you.

Benefits of Sex Coaching

If you’re wondering whether sex coaching can actually make a difference, let me reassure you: it can. I’ve worked with clients for over a decade, and the biggest thing they tell me? They finally feel comfortable talking about sex in a way they never have before. When you can communicate openly—without fear, shame, or awkwardness—everything changes.

Sex coaching helps you build confidence, deepen intimacy, and experience more fulfilling sexual connections. Whether you’re navigating desire differences, struggling with performance anxiety, or just feeling disconnected, this work gives you the tools to move forward. Many of my clients have overcome obstacles like erectile dysfunction, low libido, or mismatched intimacy needs—not because there was something ‘wrong’ with them, but because they learned how to approach sex differently.

And it doesn’t just stop with you. When you’re comfortable in your own skin and confident in your relationships, that confidence extends to the way you talk with your partner, your kids, and even your community. Clients often tell me they feel more at ease discussing sex and relationships with their children, helping them grow up with healthier attitudes toward intimacy.

Science backs this up. Here’s what the data shows about the benefits of sex and intimacy coaching:

  • More Confidence and Pleasure: Studies show that sex coaching is linked to better sexual well-being and enjoyment, even during stressful times [source].
  • Better Communication: Learning how to talk about sex makes relationships stronger and helps couples navigate intimacy challenges together [source].
  • More Sexual and Relationship Satisfaction: Research confirms that interventions like coaching improve both sexual pleasure and overall relationship happiness [source].
  • Reduced Sexual Anxiety: Addressing fears and insecurities around sex leads to healthier self-esteem and intimacy [source].
  • Better Decision-Making: Having the right knowledge helps people make informed choices about sex and relationships [source].
  • Healthier Attitudes Toward Pleasure: Viewing sex as something to enjoy—not just something to do—improves overall satisfaction and emotional connection [source].

The takeaway? Sex coaching helps you feel more confident, more connected, and more in control of your intimate life. It’s not just about better sex—it’s about a better relationship with yourself and the people you love.

Types of Sex Coaching

Everyone has different needs when it comes to sex and intimacy. That’s why I offer a few different ways to work together, depending on what you’re looking for. Whether you want to feel more comfortable in your own skin, improve communication with a partner, or navigate changes in desire, we’ll focus on what matters most to you.

  • Individual Coaching: If you’re looking to explore your desires, build confidence, or work through challenges that get in the way of pleasure, this is for you. We’ll talk about what’s going on, figure out what’s getting in the way, and work toward what feels good for *you*—without shame, pressure, or judgment.
  • Couples Coaching: Intimacy isn’t just about sex—it’s about how you and your partner connect. Whether you’re dealing with mismatched desire, communication struggles, or feeling disconnected, we’ll work on ways to rebuild intimacy and create a sex life that works for *both* of you.
  • Parental Coaching: If you want to raise kids who feel comfortable talking about relationships, boundaries, and sex in a healthy way—but you’re not sure how to start—I can help. We’ll go over what to say, how to say it, and how to make sure your kids get good information from *you* instead of the internet.
  • Online Workshops and Classes: For those who prefer learning in a group setting, I offer workshops on everything from understanding desire and pleasure to improving communication and breaking out of old patterns.

My goal is to help you feel comfortable in your own body, communicate what you want, and enjoy intimacy on *your* terms. However we work together, you’ll get practical tools, real conversations, and support tailored to you.

Do I Need a Relationship and Sex Coach?

Maybe you’ve been trying to figure things out on your own—reading articles, listening to podcasts, hoping things will change. But deep down, you know something still isn’t working.

I work with individuals and couples who are struggling with:

  • 🟢 Erection & Performance Anxiety – Feeling like your body isn’t responding the way you want it to
  • 🟢 Desire Discrepancies – You and your partner don’t want sex at the same time (or in the same way), and it’s creating tension
  • 🟢 Overthinking & Anxiety – You’re stuck in your head instead of enjoying the moment
  • 🟢 Sexual Confidence – Worrying about whether you’re “good enough” in bed or feeling insecure about your body
  • 🟢 Intimacy & Communication – Not knowing how to bring up what you really want without feeling awkward
  • 🟢 Sexual Shame & Guilt – Unpacking harmful messages from religion, upbringing, or past experiences
  • 🟢 Navigating Midlife & Body Changes – Adjusting to shifts in arousal, pleasure, or responsiveness as you age
  • 🟢 Talking to Kids About Sex – Wanting to be a safe, informed guide for your children without repeating the mistakes of your own upbringing

If any of this sounds familiar, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Let’s get you unstuck. We’ll tackle what’s holding you back and give you real tools to:

  • ✔ Feel confident in your body and sexual experiences
  • ✔ Reignite intimacy and connection in your relationship
  • ✔ Express your needs without fear or awkwardness
  • ✔ Create a satisfying sex life that works for you

How to Find a Sex Therapist

Looking for the right sex therapist or coach can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you want to work through intimacy struggles, explore pleasure, or gain confidence in your sexuality, finding a professional who aligns with your values and needs is key. Here’s what to consider when choosing the right support.

  • Check Their Credentials: Look for professionals with relevant degrees or certifications in sexology or a related field. Organizations like the American College of Sexologists or the World Association of Sex Coaches list qualified professionals.
  • Make Sure They’re Bias-Aware: A good sex therapist or coach recognizes their own biases and stays open-minded. They should be able to hold space for your experiences, not project their personal beliefs onto your situation.
  • Know Their Limits: No professional is an expert in everything. Ethical providers refer clients to specialists when something is outside their area of expertise. If your concerns involve past trauma or mental health diagnoses, a therapist trained in those areas may be best.
  • Find Someone Non-Judgmental: Your experiences, desires, and curiosities deserve respect. A qualified professional won’t shame you for exploring topics like kink, non-monogamy, or fantasies—whatever is relevant to *you*.
  • Trust Your Gut: If a coach or therapist makes you uncomfortable, don’t second-guess yourself. A strong therapeutic relationship is built on trust, so if it doesn’t feel like a good fit, keep looking.

Asking for help doesn’t mean something is wrong with you—it means you’re ready for something better. As a certified sex and intimacy coach, I know how important it is to feel comfortable and understood. If you’re curious about what working together might look like, let’s talk.

Sex & Relationship Coaching Frequently Asked Questions

Not sure what to expect from sex and intimacy coaching? You’re not alone. Here are some of the most common questions my clients ask before booking a call.

Q: What does a sex coach actually do?

A: A sex coach helps people improve their sexual confidence, communication, and pleasure—whether solo or with a partner. I work with clients to navigate challenges, break through barriers, and create more fulfilling intimate experiences. Think of it as guidance tailored to *you*, without judgment or pressure.

Q: What types of issues do you help with?

A: I support clients in a variety of areas, including:

  • Understanding their own sexual desires and needs
  • Communicating more openly with their partner(s)
  • Overcoming intimacy challenges like mismatched libidos or sexual anxiety
  • Healing from negative past experiences
  • Exploring pleasure and deepening connection

Every session is tailored to your needs—whether that’s personal growth, relationship support, or pleasure enhancement.

Q: Do I need to be in a relationship to benefit from sex coaching?

A: Nope! Sex coaching isn’t just for couples. Plenty of my clients are individuals who want to feel more confident, work through blocks, or get clarity on what they want in a future partner.

Q: Is everything we talk about private?

A: 100%. Confidentiality is key. What we discuss stays between us, so you can feel comfortable opening up in a judgment-free space.

Q: Will you judge me for my desires or kinks?

A: Not at all. Everyone has different desires, fantasies, and curiosities—there’s no “normal” when it comes to pleasure. My role is to help you explore what feels right *for you*, without shame.

Q: How long is a Discovery Call?

A: Most last around 20-30 minutes—just enough time to talk about what you’re looking for, see if we’re a good fit, and answer any questions you have.

Q: What if I’m nervous or don’t know how to talk about this?

A: Totally normal. A lot of people tell me this is the first time they’ve talked about their concerns out loud. You’re in control of the conversation—you can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. No pressure, no judgment.

Q: Are you licensed or certified?

A: Yes! I’m a certified sex coach, not a licensed therapist, which means I don’t diagnose or treat mental health conditions. Instead, I focus on education, skill-building, and guiding people toward deeper intimacy and sexual fulfillment.

I hold a Doctorate (DHS) and a Master’s in Human Sexuality (MHS) and am a certified sex coach through Sex Coach U. I’m also a Diplomate of the American Board of Sexology and serve on the Advisory Board for the World Association of Sex Coaches.

I’ve trained with some of the best in the field, including Drs. Betty Dodson, Betty Martin, Patti Britton, Carol Queen, and Ava Cadell. I’ve lectured internationally and bring decades of expertise to my coaching.

Q: Do you take insurance?

A: Unfortunately, insurance companies don’t cover sex coaching—though they should. Sex and intimacy struggles are a major part of mental and emotional well-being, yet insurance doesn’t recognize this work. That said, I do my best to make coaching as accessible as possible.

Q: How do I book a call?

A: Super easy. Click here to schedule a free Discovery Call, and we’ll chat about your needs, questions, and whether sex coaching is the right fit for you.
