If you’re into sex-positive parenting, this one’s for you.
What is READ ME and who is it for?
READ ME: A Parental Primer for “The Talk” is a sex-positive parenting guide by Dr. Lanae St.John, written to help parents have honest, shame-free conversations with their kids about sex, consent, and relationships. It’s smart, inclusive, and full of practical tools—not awkward scripts or outdated scare tactics.
Why READ ME Still Matters 6 Years Later
On June 27, 2019, I released READ ME. It was born out of frustration, clarity, and a mission: to help parents stop whispering and start talking openly about sexuality with their kids. No shame. No panic. Real talk.
Fast forward six years, and the need hasn’t gone away. In fact, with sex education under fire, porn a click away, and algorithms flooding the internet with garbage? The need is louder than ever.
And then, somewhere between 2021 and now, my book—my very real, very human, very not mouse-ear-branded book—got buried by Disney’s “Me Reader” products in Amazon’s search results. So when people typed “READ ME,” they found talking plastic books for toddlers instead of tools for grownups raising actual humans. Effectively, it buried my book!
So I did what any sex-positive author would do. I took a digital crowbar to the backend, updating keywords, tweaking the listing, and giving the book a visibility refresh.
And, while I was at it, I changed the price. READ ME is your ultimate sex-positive parenting tool for making “The Talk” less awkward and way more empowering.
Because access to better conversations shouldn’t come with a high price tag.

Frequently Asked (and Whispered) Questions
Is this book for parents of toddlers or teens?
Both. It’s designed to grow with your child and help you adapt the conversation as they age.
Does this book teach my kid about sex?
Nope. READ ME is written for you—the parent—so you can lead these convos in a way that’s true to your values (and based in science, not fear).
Is this just about “The Talk”?
Not even close. It’s about building lifelong trust and communication. “The Talk” is just the beginning.
What if I’m not confident talking about this stuff?
That’s exactly why I wrote the book.
